The Close Encounter Club have today announced the line-up for their SXSW Online 2021 official showcase, featuring Sorry, Babeheaven and Weird Milk.
Broadcasting on Tuesday 16th March at 9pm Central Time (CT), SXSW Online delegates will be able to view an hour-long showcase beaming directly from The Club, with celestial West Londoners Babeheaven and buoyant indie-pop outfit Weird Milk performing alongside gritty alt-rock headliners Sorry. The footage was filmed at Battersea Arts Centre in South London in a Covid-safe environment following strict guidelines from APA.
Speaking about their time at The Close Encounter Club, Sorry say, “It was really nice to play the songs! It looked really cool and everyone was lovely. Slightly odd with the cameras and not playing to many people but all in all a good time!”
Babeheaven echo the sentiment, “It was great, very nice to play with our band again live in a nice environment,” whilst Weird Milk conclude it was, “Joyous, as any experience with the wonderful folks at The Close Encounter always is. It’s a great project and is always a lot of fun to be involved with.”
The official showcase marks another important milestone in The Close Encounter Club’s trajectory, with the project continuing to thrive in 2020, adapting and innovating in the wake of a global pandemic. In October last year The Mysterines performed at The Club’s immersive two-way live stream, where the bands performing were able to see and hear their audience at home. Alongside this they also premiered live sessions from a host of other acts including Willie J Healey, Katy J Pearson, Porridge Radio and Mysie, helping to propel The Close Encounter Club’s voyage of new music discovery into the stratosphere.
You can watch all of the previous sessions to date on The Close Encounter Club website now.
