Loyle Carner, Wembley Arena, 16/03/23

Loyle Carner, British rapper, singer, and songwriter who has gained recognition for his introspective and personal lyrics, headlined Wembley Arena on the final date of his UK ‘Hugo” Tour.

Opening the show was Wesley Joseph, a rising artist known for his unique blend of hip-hop, electronic, and experimental sounds. His music often features introspective lyrics and innovative production that sets him apart from many other artists in the industry.

Wesley Joseph’s performance demonstrated is his ability to experiment with different genres and sounds, without sacrificing the cohesiveness and flow of his songs. For example, the track “Patience” started with a melancholic guitar riff and gradually built up with electronic beats and Joseph’s confident flow, resulting in a seamless blend of different sounds and styles.

After a set from singer Olivia Dean, it was time for the main act. The energy in the room was electric as fans eagerly awaited Loyle Carner’s arrival on stage. When he finally emerged, the crowd went wild, screaming and cheering as he launched into his set.

Loyle Carner demonstrated incredible stage presence, commanding attention with his confident swagger and commanding vocals. He effortlessly worked the crowd, engaging with his fans and creating a party atmosphere that had everyone on their feet.

The music was a mix of hard-hitting beats and catchy hooks that had the entire audience chanting along. Loyle Carner’s lyrics are clever and insightful, touching on themes of love, struggle, and triumph. His flow was impeccable, seamlessly transitioning between verses and hooks with ease.

The lighting and visuals added to the overall experience, with colourful lights flashing and psychedelic patterns projected onto the stage which also featured a beat-up car, which was later explained as a key part of the story behind the album title. The whole show was an immersive experience that left fans feeling like they had just been part of something truly special.

Overall, the concert was an amazing experience that showcased the incredible talent of this up-and-coming rapper. If you ever have the chance to see him live, we highly recommend it.
