The 2022 edition of 2000 Trees was an absolute scorcher – and not just in terms of the weather. After a few years off (because of you-know-what), the festival was back and better than ever, playing host to the best in up-and-coming rock bands and household names alike.

Right from the start, Petrol Girls have always been a band to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to activism. When they’re not writing the post-hardcore riffs they’ve become known for, their members can be found putting time and money into causes like refugee support and legal defence funds for women speaking out about sexual harassment.

Metal heads came together and rejoiced as Download Festival 2022 took place over the second weekend of June, featuring headliners Kiss, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro, along with an array of rock legends from all around the world.

On the weekend of the Platinum Jubilee, millions across the country were seeking some sort of celebration and/or escape. I, like many others, was no different, however, for me my escape of choice was not a bunting-lined street party but Nottingham’s very own Meadowlands Festival.

Spirits were high as punters poured into Camden’s Roundhouse for Miles Kane’s headline show.
First came a 30 minute set from newcomer Brooke Combe, her powerful vocals soaring through a cover of ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When Your High’ much to the audience’s delight. Brooke’s voice captivated the crowd, as she sang to them, “Do I impress you?”. The answer is yes, very much so, and we can’t wait to see more from this artist.
